Dividend Update January 2019

Whats up guys, welcome to the first dividend update of 2019. Today is my birthday, just turned 24 and I feel that this year is going to be the year i hit 2 massive milestones with in a year. If you've followed my Facebook fan page you would already know that my dividend growth portfolio went past $20,000 in value (click on the portfolio tab above if you want to see) and i see myself maybe hitting $30,000 at the end of 2019 because every $10k comes quicker after the next. Took a few days for it to really hit me because im always working so hard that i dont even realize what im achieving in my life.

(flash back to October of 2018) My older sister came to visit during the week of Halloween. Shes one of the very few family members that knows about this. I told her at this rate i may hit $100,000+ in portfolio value when im 30 years old, and she just wanted to faint lol

So without  further or do lets get to business =)

Roth IRA

Taxable Account

Total: $57.75 (great start for the year)
YoY: 98.93%
Purchase: 44 shares of T, 5 shares of PEP
Sold: 32 shares of OHI (entire position)

This is probably the first time EVER during the last 2 years of running this blog have i sold anything on a dividend update. Well guys i got rid of OHI, it was good while it lasted but i already knew this would be a temporary holding, this was when i was learning about REIT's. First bought 18 shares at $33.48 (7/27/17), then when it dipped i bought 11 shares at $27.01 (2/5/18) , and sold the entire position at $33.87 (1/3/19). So a 1.16% gain on the first purchase and a whopping 25.39% gain on the second purchase, not bad for a buy and hold investor ;)

So after i sold OHI and bought a big chunk of T, my plan with AT&T is to dollar cost average my way to 100 shares and then just let it DRIP like crazy while i funnel cash to other dividend stocks. Doing covered calls on T could be a possibility, but i want to take my time a study this before i dive into it. My 100 share project with T will be slow and steady working with the power of compound interest.

So my New Years resolution for 2019 is to get MCD, PEP, JNJ, & CLX to 4 figure holdings in the portfolio, all solid dividend growth companies ;) and as always make more of that sweet dividend money. Well guys thats it for this update, hope you all had a successful January, and ill see you guys next time =D
